This banana walnut muffins recipe is so good that you will wonder why you would ever bother making regular muffins again.

It is wholesome, healthy, satisfying – and absolutely sweet enough! If you like you can trade the honey for maple syrup for a purely vegan muffin recipe.

Walnuts are good for your heart, brain, mood and helps against insomnia. They also may help diabetics and have anti-cancer benefits. Please note: As with all nuts, people with nut-allergies should not eat walnuts.


Honey is a natural energy booster, it boosts the natural immune system, and helps fight cancer. Honey also has healing properties for external use; use it on cuts and scrapes, chapped lips etc.

Maple syrup

Real maple syrup is good for your heart, boosts your immune system, is an antioxidant and has special benefits for the male health. Maple syrup also contains very few calories, and still has a very sweet taste.


Bananas are great for your heart as well as for your nerves. They work as a natural beta-blocker and also helps reduce stress. Due to high potassium content, bananas are also good for your bones and kidneys. Bananas have a calming effect and contain a lot of natural B6, which is great for your blood.

Banana Walnut Muffins

Here’s what you’ll need

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 3 Tbs. applesauce
  • 1 Tbs. water
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 bananas, mashed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Here's what you'll do

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F/180C.
  2. Lightly oil a Muffin Pan.
  3. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, mix well until blended.
  4. Now spoon the batter in the muffin pan (keep it even!)
  5. Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes.

Test if they are done by inserting a toothpick, when it comes out clean the muffins are ready. Remove the muffins from the pan immediately, and let cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!
